I am Not a Mistake

Updated: Jun 14, 2021

Good morning It is Thursday, April 29, 2021.

Have you seen the movie "Overcomer"? If not, may I highly recommend it!

My dear friend Alta invites me over after work for a movie from time to time and yesterday we watched Overcomer. I have to tell you, one of the best movies I have seen! And wow did I cry at times. (She did too ;0) ) It was just so touching. It really drove home what an awesome God we have.

There is a portion in the movie where one of the main Characters, Olive Brooks, played by Priscilla Shirer, leads Hannah, a 15 year old girl to Christ. She explained it so well!! She made it sound so easy, and it is, but I had never heard anyone lead someone to Christ the way this character did. I wish I could quote it here word for word but you will just have to see the movie. The main thing I want to point out is, she told Hannah to go home and read the first two chapters of Ephesians and make a list of all the things those two chapters told her about who she was.

When Hannah saw her coach the next day, she answered a question he had asked her. He had asked her who she was. She did not have an answer at the time, but after reading Ephesians, she knew exactly who she was.

She told the coach:

I am created by God. He designed me, so I’m not a mistake.

His Son died for me, just so I could be forgiven.

He picked me to be his own, so I’m chosen.

He redeemed me, so I am wanted.

He showed me grace, just so I could be saved.

He has a future for me because He loves me.

So I don’t wonder anymore, Coach Harrison. I am a child of God.

WOW!!! So good. So powerful.

I would encourage you to read all of Ephesians. It is just six short chapters. You could do it in 15 or 20 minutes. It is PACKED with good news. It is filled with hope and promise. But just in case you don't have time to pick up your Bible this morning or open your Bible app I am going to leave you with 1:3-8 from The Clear Word.

"Praise be to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for all the spiritual blessings we have received, made secure in heaven for us through Christ. Before this world was created, God determined that all who believed on His Son should be saved, and that we should be holy and blameless in His sight. Because of His love, God decided to secure our destiny by adopting us as His children through Jesus Christ, according to His good pleasure and will. Let us praise God for His glorious grace which He freely gave us in Christ, the One He so dearly loves. It is through His blood that we have redemption and forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of God's grace which He has lavished upon us and through which He has given us wisdom and understanding."

Be blessed today! And remember, Jesus is coming soon!
