Good morning. It is Thursday, March 10, 2022. Jeanette Stark here.
The Canada Goose has returned. I noticed her Monday evening on my trip home. She was there Tuesday evening. Also Wednesday morning and last night. Just sitting on the arch of the bridge, looking down river. Where is her mate? I don’t know, but she is back. I think it is a “she” because females choose the nesting spot and build the nest. I wrote about this pair of geese last year. Within a few short weeks a pair of Asprey will join them on the bridge. A goose nest on one arch, an Asprey nest on the other arch.
“Did you know that there is a difference between a migrating goose and a resident goose? Migrating Canada Geese migrate to the deep south of the United States and Mexico in the Fall months. They will migrate back starting in March only stopping for a day or two along the way back to Canada where they breed. Resident geese on the other hand do not migrate. They may relocate to another lake or pond but do not travel like the actual migrant geese do. So, if you have geese sticking around longer than a day or two, they are residents and will probably be back.” (Source: abirdsdelight.com)
The return of the geese and the osprey is almost like clockwork. You can count on them being there for the next few months.
You know the Bible tells us that Jesus will return. I believe it will be soon.
“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.” Revelation 1:7 NKJV
“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20 NKJV
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.” Revelation 3:11 NKJV
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.” Revelation 22:12 NKJV
But how soon is soon? People have been saying for hundreds of years that Jesus would return, but how do we know it will really happen?
“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” Revelation 16:15 NKJV
Behold. What does it mean to behold?
There is an expression “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”
Merriam-Webster defines it as:
1: to perceive through sight or apprehension : SEE 2: to gaze upon : OBSERVE
Beauty is in the eye that sees it.
Jesus is speaking in Matthew 24 42 “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour (day) your Lord is coming.”
Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:4, 6 “1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 “But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober (self-controlled)”
“But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.” 1 Peter 4:7
Jesus in Matthew says watch, John in Revelation says watch, Paul in 1st Thessalonians says watch. Peter tells us to be watchful. But watch for what?
All those verses are referring to the end of time.
In Matthew chapter 24, the disciples asked Jesus what will be the signs of the end of time?
Let’s take look beginning in verse 3.
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
The Great Tribulation
“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand.
“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
The Coming of the Son of Man
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
Jesus is coming. He said He said He would be back, and we can trust Him. So, how soon is soon? We don’t know. Our time is not God’s time.
“But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8 NKJV
Jesus is coming back; we just don’t know when. It is our job to watch and be ready.
