The Plan Before Time

Good morning. It is Monday, May 9, 2022. Jeanette Stark here.

Last week was so extremely busy that I found little time to write, but I am catching up today.

The weather this weekend is what I call “A weather buffet”. We had a little bit of everything.

Friday was extremely windy. I love the sound of the wind through my tall pine trees, and I always say a pray that God will keep them rooted securely in the ground. They were whipping on Friday!

Saturday morning, we had dark clouds and rain. Saturday afternoon the sun came out and most of the clouds disappeared.

Sunday morning, starting at about 9 o’clock, it began to snow! It snowed big flakes, but none stuck for about 2 hours.

There is an old saying that goes like this “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.” The certainly was true for this past weekend.

Last week was our yearly “Donor Dinner”. A way to thank those people who support us with their financial gifts. It was a busy week. Actually, it has been a busy couple of months. We made numerous decorations and center pieces for each table. Last week began the room-prep and hauling over everything to the Better Living Center. There were lights to hang and large decorations to hang from the ceiling. Each table was moved into place with 8 chairs per table. Each table was set with place mats, and plates, utensils, and napkins. Each table had a center pieces and other little odds and ends. Thursday was all about the food prep. Starting at about 9:30am, 8 of us descended in the kitchen, all with different duties. There was cutting and slicing and chopping and cooking. We worked until 8:30 (or later) that night. It was tiring but so very rewarding.

Getting each table ready. Getting all our Silent Auction items in place. Setting up the food line, the omelet station, the breads table, and the desserts table. Checking and rechecking that everything was in order for our guests to arrive at 5pm.

Months of planning and preparation and it was over in a little less than 2 hours.

I have often looked at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners that way. There is the menu, then the shopping. You start cooking before the rooster crows or perhaps even the night before. You spend all day in the kitchen. You set the table with your best. Hours of planning and preparation and then it is over in less than 30 minutes. You are left with a mound of dirty dishes and sore feet.

But I love it!

How often do you think about the planning that has gone in for you and me in regard to heaven? Or, going back even further, the planning that went into the only hope for our salvation in a sin-sick world: Jesus on the cross.

The plan for the Son of God to leave heaven, to be born a helpless baby, to live a perfect, sinless life, and then be tortured and die on a cross for us, was planned even before our world was created! This was no haphazard plan. This was a well-thought-out plan to save lost human beings.

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.” 1 Peter 1:18-21 NKJV

Before Adam and Eve, there was a plan for you and me.

who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,” 2 Timothy 1:9 NKJV

Before time began, there was a plan. Simply amazing! Amazing Love!

Titus 1:2 tells us “in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,” NKJV

Yes, there has always been a plan, but the planning did not stop there.

When Jesus ascended to heaven his parting words were, I am going to prepare a place for you. I’ll be back to get you. I promise!

Each time we plan a party, each time we make a guest list, shop, and prepare. Each time we clean and scrub and make neat and tidy, we are, on a very tiny scale, doing what Jesus said He was doing in heaven. He is making ready a place for us to come and celebrate with Him.

That date is fast approaching. I believe, as do many others, that we are living on the last page of this earth’s history. I believe, as do many others, that Jesus is coming soon. Are we ready? Have we accepted and responded to the invitation? If so, “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” Matthew 25:34 NKJV

I will leave you with the lyrics to the song: Amazing Love…

I’m forgiven because you were forsaken I’m accepted, you were condemned I’m alive and well Your spirit is within me Because you died and rose again

Amazing love, how can it be? That you, my king. would die for me Amazing love, I know it’s true Its my joy to honor you… In all I do I honor you
