Good morning It is Thursday, May 20, 2021.
I am thinking about Hydrogen Peroxide today. Specifically the time I had to use it on my Golden Retriever, Angel.
She was the best dog in the world and I would often tell her that. We got her at 6 weeks old and we put her to sleep at 15 years old. She tolerated toddlers and I tolerated her long golden hair year-round on my furniture. It was a fair trade.
Hydrogen Peroxide is a great ingredient when you are trying to wash the skunk smell off your dog. Combined with Dawn dish soap it works wonders I am told, but this is not about Angel getting into a skunk.
I had a friend that would bring us the most amazing sweet treats around Christmas time. The BEST Almond Roca, (her secret recipe that she would NOT share with me ;0), fudge etc. This particular year it was 2 pounds of chocolate fudge. She brought it in a gallon sized zip lock bag.
After she dropped it off I headed for the shower, but first I placed that bag of goodness as far back on the counter as it would go and headed down the hallway.
After my shower I walked back in the kitchen and the first thing that caught my eye was an empty zip lock bag on the floor. For a moment I was puzzled...what is that doing there? Where did it come from? Then suddenly I remembered the bag of fudge.
My eyes shot to the counter; no bag. I then spun around and looked at Angel. She lowered her head and would not meet my eyes. Her smile gone, she knew she was in big trouble. I was instantly very worried. I knew chocolate could make dogs very sick if not in fact kill them. I called the vet immediately. He told me to get a turkey baster a bowl and a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide and take Angel outside. I was instructed to fill the turkey baster and force it in her mouth and down to her stomach.
I headed out the back door with my supplies and my dog.
I thought to myself "You know, my dog is so silly she might just drink this up." I poured half a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide into the bowl and with my sweetest voice, encouraged her to drink it. She lapped up every last drop. Within seconds, well, I will not go into detail, but let's just say it worked wonderfully.
Hydrogen Peroxide is a must-have in your kitchen or bathroom. My mom used to pour it in my ears after swimming. It would bubble all the water up and out of my ear canals. (I suffered terribly with Swimmer's Ear when I was young. I still avoid getting water in my ears!) She would use it on our wounds and I have poured it on my children's wounds. It will start bubbling right away. The bubbling is a sign that the active ingredient is at work.
By the way, "Hydrogen peroxide bubbles when it is poured onto a cut or a wound because of an enzyme called catalase, which catalyzes the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into its constituent molecules of water and oxygen. The bubbles are formed when oxygen gas is released. Catalase is present in most cells of the human body, but it is not found on the surface of the skin. When skin in broken, cells are ruptured, exposing catalase. Catalase is also found in many bacteria, so peroxide is especially prone to bubbling when exposed to a wound that has become infected. Hydrogen peroxide is an effective disinfectant, but it can lead to scarring because it destroys newly formed skin cells. - - www.reference.com
Used as a mouthwash it kills bacteria and viruses in your mouth. It whitens your teeth. It is great in a foot soak. It can relieve soar throats when used as a gargle. It's a strong antiseptic. It is good stuff. But "did you know Hydrogen Peroxide is 97% purified water? The active ingredient is what makes the difference. It is the source of power."
From my book "Life-Changing Divine Appointments: "The book of the Bible that records the movements of the early Christian church is Acts of the Apostles. This book should more accurately be titled, "Acts of the Holy Spirt." Without question, the power and action in the book of Acts is driven by the Holy Spirit. He is mentioned no less that 57 times in 28 chapters. Acts 1:8 reminds us where the source of power comes from: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses...to the ends of the earth."
"The Greek word for power is "dunamis" from which we derive our English word "dynamite."
"If we want dynamite power in our lives, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit. The bubbling over in our lives will be a demonstration that the active ingredient is at work."
Luke 11:13 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
All you have to do is ask. If you want the Holy Spirit in your life, ask your heavenly Father. He loves to give good gifts to those who ask.
Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."
May God richly bless you, guard and protect you. And remember, Jesus is coming soon!
