The Chimes of Time

I love the old song "It Is No Secret" I sing it often...

"the chimes of time ring out the news, another day is through. Someone slipped and fell. Was that someone you. You may have longed for added strength your courage to renew. Do not be disheartened, for I have news for you. It is no secret what God can do. What He's done for others, He'll do for you. With arms wide open He'll pardon you. It is no secret what God can do."

I don't know about you, but I can relate to those lyrics. I have slipped and fell so many times in my life I have lost track.

There have been so many times in my life when I would do things I really didn't want to do. I knew they were bad for me, unhealthy for me and yet this war would rage inside. This tug of war from which I could not hide.

I think Romans 7:15, 18, 19, 22-24 says it best: "For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. For I delight in the law of God in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?"

I want to give you my secret. That tug of war stopped immediately when, on my knees, I asked the Holy Spirit to help me.

It had never occurred to me to ask the Holy Spirit for help. I don't know why, it was just lost on me over the years.

One day I was listening to a speaker on TV and he was talking on that very subject. It was as if he was talking directly to me. I could relate to everything he was saying. He suggested that asking for the Holy Spirit's help was the key to success. And he was right! I am a living testament to the power of the Holy Spirit. There is no other explanation.

If you are struggling with some issue in your life; addiction, anger, gossip...oh, the list goes on, the Holy Spirt can change you. He can help you!

Galatians 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

If you are looking for a change; if you need help, please try this: ask God to give you the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 11:13 ESV "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Second, ask the Holy Spirit to help you.

Psalm 143:10 "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!"

I don't think we talk enough about the Holy Spirit. He is our helper; He is life-changing.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 "And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules."

Have a wonderful day. Be blessed and be a blessing! And remember: Jesus is coming soon!
