Good morning. It is Friday, July 23, 2021
Yesterday I spoke about Jesus being on time. He is never late. His ways are not our ways, and His timing is always perfect.
Isaiah 55:8 tells us “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.”
So often in my life I have yearned to know God’s timing. I want to see clearly the path laid out before me.
I remember an injustice not too long ago and crying out to God “I just want to understand why!” I heard that gentle, still-small voice tell me “You do not need to understand why.”
I got it in that moment. It was not my job to understand, it was my job to trust Jesus that everything would work out according to His plan for my life. That is all, nothing more.
Acts 1:7 tell us “…It is not for you to know times…which the Father has fixed by His own authority.”
It is not for us to know. It is up to us to trust. To build our faith. To let God know that we believe that His ways are better; His timing is perfect.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart…”
We look at time in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. But God does not look at time in that way.
2 Peter 3:8 tells us “…do not let this one fact escape your notice…that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.”
Friend if you find yourself getting frustrated with waiting on God to answer your prayer, remember, nothing takes Him by surprise. He knows what is best for us. We may not understand it now, but I know that He will reveal the reason to us someday. Maybe not until heaven, but we will know, and we will understand. And, we will agree His timing was perfect!
