There is a lot to be said about "trust"
I have a little book on my desk titled Loving God with All My Mind by Julie Ackerman Link. I have had it for years and cannot remember who gave it to me or where it came from, but it is filled with little golden nuggets.
I found the following this morning:
“Early in me editorial career I worked on a book by Gary Smalley titled Joy that lasts. The book was based on the metaphor of a cup. Gary’s premise was that his dissatisfaction in life was the result of “filling his cup” with all the wrong things, though not necessarily bad things. He realized that he had been trying to find satisfaction in people, places, positions, and possessions. When he stopped expecting those things to provide fulfillment and began looking to God instead, he finally found satisfaction in his relationship with the Lord.
In contrast to what many people think they need to be satisfied; a spouse, children, love, understanding, acceptance, health, money, success, respect, approval, revenge, vindication, more time, a better job - this is what the Bible says about satisfaction:
• If we delight in the Lord, He will satisfy our desires Psalm 37:4
• God’s unfailing love is satisfying Psalm 90:14
• God satisfies every living thing Psalm 145:16
• God invites all who are thirsty and poor to come to Him and He will satisfy them with all that is good Isaiah 55:1,2
• If we spend ourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed…the Lord will guide us and satisfy our needs even in dry places Isaiah 58:9-11”
That is so good!
Many people are on a journey to fill that need, that need to be understood, to be successful, to gain more respect and approval. Wanting a better job. Some seek revenge and vindication, but we are never satisfied. Instead, we are left always looking and searching for the thing that makes us happy, when really it is right in front of us AND it is free! It is the love of a Savior.
Jesus is everything we need, and when we give our hearts to Him, AND delight in Him, He will satisfy our desires. God can and will transform the way we think, the things we want and the desires of our heart. You need only invite Him to do so.
Give your life and heart completely to Him. You can trust Him.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord” Jeremiah 17:17
I hope your day is blessed. Keep looking up! Jesus is coming soon!
