I Feel Like Somebody's Watching Me

I have gone back and forth on whether I should share this story or not, today, I decided I should.
About 7 months ago I purchased my first small, in-home security cameras. Although I live alone, there are several people that have keys to my home; there are people that do laundry there, cook there, etc. Also, I have a dog that is home alone while I am gone, and two cats and I just wanted that added security of being able to see what was going on in my home while I was away.
Originally I placed one in the living room on a bookshelf, and I placed one in my bedroom, facing the bedroom door. When I was home I would turn the cameras around facing the wall and when I would leave, I would face them forward.
This went on for several months. I would get notifications of movement in my bedroom, always my cats. I would get notification of movement in my living room, usually my grandson. I would get notification from my doorbell cam, usually movement from my doggy. And so, it went week after week until not too long ago I noticed something weird.
To go back, one of the features I did not like about the cameras was when you wanted to watch in “live” mode, the camera’s would make a little click. Loud enough to be heard in the room. The little blue light would then come on and you could watch your space in real time. But, whoever was in the room would also know you were watching live.
I began to notice my camera in my bedroom would “detect motion” although facing the wall. There was no reason for it to come on, but I chalked it up to maybe sound turning it on instead of motion. Until one day.
I thought to perform a little experiment. And soon discovered that although the camera was being triggered by something, it was not recording, and it was not notifying me. Very strange.
And then came the day, just last week, I arrived home after work. I had turned the camera around and was winding down for a relaxing evening at home. I heard my camera come on again. I grabbed my phone and looked at the app. The app feature would not allow me to do anything, only giving me the message, “Live View in Progress”. It clicked in my brain: I think someone has hacked my cameras.
I headed for my office and quickly did an online search about how easy it would be to do such a thing…I then returned to my bedroom, unplugged the camera, wound up the cord and stuck it in an empty drawer. I did the same with the second camera.
By the way, it’s easy!
If it has a camera, it can be hacked. Your phone, your laptop, your computer, tablet…if it has a camera, you can easily be watched by someone you may or may not know. It’s creepy! It’s scary.
It’s frightening to think that someone can peer into your bedroom or bathroom or any private space if you have a camera or a way for people to listen, they can eavesdrop easily as well.
You know, the Bible says that we are being watched.

Paul said the disciples were a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men.
“For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings.” 1 Corinthians 4:9 NIV
This clearly states angels are watching us. I believe other unfallen worlds are watching as well and I get that from the book of Job.
“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.” Job 1:6 KJV
The question then would be, who are the sons of God?
Luke 3:38 tells us that Adam was the son of God. Could it be, that if Adam had not sinned, he would be at that meeting instead of Satan?
Because of sin, Satan became the ruler of this world. John 12:31 says, “now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.”
Satan is currently the ruler of this sinful planet, and he had the right to represent. Adam lost that right when he took that bite.
Too unbelievable? Too sci-fi? Friends, if you believe in the Bible, you must believe this. This is truth, not fiction, and the Bible can confirm it.
One of my favorite stories in the Bible is that of Job. The story of Job shows Satan roaming the earth. “The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” Job 1:7 NIV
It has the suggestion that he was observing all that was happening in the affairs of men. He was watching them. But not all watchers are evil.
“Who are the Watchers in the Bible? The term for “watcher” is from Aramaic, one of the few times in the Old Testament that Aramaic is used instead of Hebrew. The term for watcher is from the Aramaic phrase “`iyr” and means “wakeful one, watcher,” or “angel” therefore a watcher was meant as an angel bestowed from God. “Nebuchadnezzar’s dream involved watchers, stating, “I saw in the visions of my head while on my bed, and there was a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven” (Daniel 4:13). The Bible tells us that angels look at humans in wonder.
“Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves, but you in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look” 1 Peter 1:10–12 ESV
“Things into which angels long to look.”
I found this at corechristianity dot com. “Now that word ‘look’ is a strong word in the original language. It means to stoop down and look. Think about rubbernecking. You see something that just catches your attention—maybe something amazing, maybe something beautiful—and you just can’t take your eyes off of it. It seems like Peter is saying that’s what the angels do when see God’s grace and mercy toward us.
“Jesus Himself said that when one sinner repents and turns to God, it’s as if there’s a celebration in heaven (Luke 15:7). The angels of God throw a party when God gives grace to sinners.
“Yes, angels are watching and even serving the people of God. Hebrew 1:14, referring to angels, asks, “Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”
“They’re not interested in us for our own sakes. They’re not captivated by how you’re going to do your hair today. They’re marveling at the grace of God. They’re captivated by the glory of God in his kindness towards humanity.”

That’s absolutely horrifying, Jeanette. Scary. Your angels conclusion, however, is heartening, and I’m so happy we have them available to us. There’s no way I’ll be purchasing a security system like the one you described, relying only on divine protection. Thanks for the heads-up!! 😳
