He Who Brings Out the Starry Host

Updated: May 20, 2021

From Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

It is such a gorgeous morning today. Cold and crisp and clear. It was 27 degrees when I drove in this morning.

Mercury was the lone light in the sky as I drove, at least from my vantage point, and it was so bright and beautiful.

I remember as a child my dad teaching me to spot the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper...the North Star. Every time I spot these constellations I think of him, but I also think of Jesus.

Isaiah 40:26 gives me such encouragement.

"Lift up your eyes on high and see:

who created these?

He who brings out their host by number,

calling them all by name;

by the greatness of his might

and because he is strong in power,

not one is missing."

Psalm 8:3-4

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

what is man that you are mindful of him,

and the son of man that you care for him?

Psalm 19:19

The heavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Psalm 147:4

He determines the number of the stars;

he gives to all of them their names.

I love the book of Psalm!

Did you know the book of Psalm was not written by a single author? For the longest time I thought the entire book was written by King David. Most Psalms were, but not all.

According to my search this morning the Psalms includes more authors than any other book of the Bible.

Some Psalms name their author in the first line. For instance, Moses wrote Psalm 90.

According to gotquestions.org, Asaph wrote twelve; the descendants of Korah wrote eleven; Heman wrote one; Ethan the Ezrahite wrote one; even Solomon got in on the action with a couple. There were other authors that are unknown. Interestingly, the Psalms were written over nearly a 1,000-year period ranging from the lifetime of Moses in the wilderness to Ezra. Most psalms were composed during the lifetimes of David and Solomon.

Back to our star-breathing God; Jesus, who can create by simply speaking stars into existence, thought enough of you and me to create us as well.

Trust Him! He loves you with an everlasting love.

John 1:1-3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made."

Have a blessed day my friends! And remember; Keep looking up! Jesus is coming soon!
