Woven Into the Fabric of Time

Good morning today is Thursday, August 12, 2021

How would you like to win a million dollars? I am being serious here! I will tell you how you can try in a few minutes, but first…

We are filming with Larren Cole today on the Better Life Today set. I first became familiar with Larren when he shared about his research on beavers. Very fascinating documentary of sorts.

Larren and his family lived in the a national forest in the extreme corner of NE California. On a nature walk one day discovered a colony of beavers.

Over time, visiting often, he discovered these beavers were never out on Saturday. If he visited the beaver pond on a Wednesday they were out and very busy, but never on a Saturday. If he went on a Monday they were busy. If he went on a Sunday or Tuesday or Thursday or Friday, they were busy. But never on a Saturday.

He says it would not have made much of an impression on him except he remembered when they lived on a farm in the Redlands area. They were surrounded by orange groves and to supplement their income, they rented out their garage to a guy named Bill.

One day, just out of the blue, Bill mentioned that the bees flew in a pattern, back and forth, right by the garage every day, except Saturday. That conversation did not mean much to Larren at the time, but now, with the inactivity of beavers on Saturday, he remembered that conversation.

He decided just for fun he would start watching and documenting the beavers. He grew up watching Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom and thought it would be a fun project for his children and himself.

And so it was, early 2000, he would stop by morning and evening and mark down his findings. He took a very clinical approach but, soon discovered they were not morning beavers but were ever busy in the afternoons.

It was not long after that, he decided to start video taping his findings. The results are the DVD titled 7th Day Beavers. It is a fascinating story of God’s creatures resting on the 7th day.

Now, I know many people believe the Sabbath was done away with, but the truth of the matter is that the 7th day Sabbath was woven into the very fabric of time, into the very fabric of creation week.

If you read Genesis 1 and 2 you will see the story of creation. You will see that after 6 days of creating, God rested on the Sabbath.

Chapter 2 verses 2 through 4 tell us, “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.”

Did you catch that? God blessed the seventh day and made it holy!

Why? because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Serious question here. Can you find any other reference where God blessed any other day of the week and made it holy? I will save you time and trouble and tell you, no, you cannot.

God was not tired. He did not need to rest in the way we need rest after working out in the yard. God set aside a time and space for us to rest and reflect on creation!

Mark 2:27 tells us “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”

The Sabbath is not a Jewish tradition. It is a creation appointment. It has existed from the very beginning of earth’s history.

The 4th Commandment is found in Exodus 20: 8-11 and it mentions animals. Not only are we allowed to rest, but we are to give rest to everyone and everything on our property. It also points back to creation week.

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”

The fact that He blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy is told in the story of creation and repeated here in the Ten Commandments. The Sabbath is a memorial of His creation!

Now back to the Million dollars.

There have been challenges and rewards offered to anyone that can prove, from scripture, that the Sabbath has been done away with. Money has never been claimed. Can you imagine? So many people are under the impression that the 7th day Sabbath was done away with at the cross, and yet no one can prove it and claim the money. Why is that??

My favorite is called the Million Dollar Sabbath Challenge. The challenge has even been issued to the Pope. So far, money has not been claimed.

I loved to listen and watch Dr. Walter Pearson. He has passed away but I remember once watching as he said he knew a man that would give you $25,000 in cash if you could show him, from the Bible, where it says to worship on any other day besides Saturday, the 7th day Sabbath.

I don’t write all this to offend anyone! Jesus loves you! He died for you! But he does not want us following after the traditions of men.

Mark 7:8 ESV “You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

If the Creator set aside a day, at the beginning of creation, and blessed that day and made that day holy, why would we not want to observe it?

The prophet Isaiah speaks about coming together on Sabbath when the earth is made new.

The Sabbath will be kept for an eternity.

Isaiah 66:22-23 ESV

“For as the new heavens and the new earth

that I make

shall remain before me, says the Lord,

so shall your offspring and your name remain.

From new moon to new moon,

and from Sabbath to Sabbath,

all flesh shall come to worship before me,

declares the Lord.”

Search the scriptures. Search them as if your life depended on it. Don’t simply take man’s word for it. Take God’s word for it!

Be blessed today! And keep looking up. Jesus is coming soon.
