The Birds
Updated: May 20, 2021
From Friday, April 9, 2021.
It is a gorgeous clear morning, except for a bank of fog along the Rogue River. It's was 33 degrees at my house.
As I was getting ready for work this morning, I could hear a bird singing in the trees outside my house. I have been in this house, snuggled in the woods, for one year. Last year I was unfamiliar with the bird that was singing so beautifully on the property, but after posting a picture and asking for ideas on a large bird on my birdfeeder last year I discovered it was a Blackheaded Grosbeak. One of my friends said they have a beautiful song. I searched on line for the song of a Grosbeak and the light bulb went off. This was the bird I had been hearing in the trees.

This morning when I heard that beautiful song, not only did I know what type of bird was singing, but it really brought a smile to my face. Take a moment and look it up on-line. It is such a sweet song.
Psalm 104:12 ESV reads "Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches."
I love birds! Some of my earliest memories are of my dad teaching me the names of birds. We had a record that played the bird calls and we had bird books. My grandparents had a large homemade birdfeeder attached to the railing of the front porch just out the living room window and it was always a popular place.
According to my search on-line this morning, there are over 50 Bible verses regarding birds. In those verses there are over 30 variety of birds mentioned.

God created birds on the the Fifth Day of Creation Week. Genesis 1:20-22 "And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”

I love birds and I know God loves birds :) and I take great comfort knowing that as much as He loves and cares for the birds, He loves and cares that much more for you and me!
Matthew 6:26,27 NIV “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Matthew 10:29,31 ESV "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows."
Luke 12:24 NIV "Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!"
Appreciate all the things going on around you. All the buds on the trees. The fragrance in the air. The bird's songs that reach your ears. The flowers blooming.
Have a wonderful day and a great weekend! May God richly bless you, guard and protect you!
Remember, Jesus is coming soon!
